This set encompasses over a thousand cards issued between the years 1927 and 1932. Zigaretten-Industrie produced identical cards for several different tobacco companies including: Alva-Yosma, Austria, Batschari, Bergmann, Brinkmann, Bulgaria, Caid, Constantin, Delta, Eckstein, Garbaty, Gold Dollar, Greiling, Jasmatzi, Josetti, Kyriazzi, Lande, Manoli, Orienta, Polo, Salem, Sulima, Waldorf-Astoria, Yenidze, Zig.Bilderdienst and Zuban. The front of the card shows a beautifully illustrated colour picture of the player or players; the back of the card has the title, set name, card number, series number, trade text and a description of the card front, all written in German. The cards were given as a premium in packs of cigarettes.

These original cards were issued in the USA by the KTAV Publishing Company in 1963. They are from a set of cards featuring Famous Jewish Athletes. The fronts of the cards show the player's name, sport, and a black-and-white illustration of the player. The backs of the cards are blank. The cards originally came on a marked sheet and were meant to be cut and adhered into an album. These cards were never mounted. In my experience, these cards are genuinely rare.
